The Story Behind the Wipe: Why We Created the World’s First Hair Cleansing Wipe

We’re peeling back the curtain on how a wild idea between a mother-daughter duo turned into a patented, world-first innovation: The GG Hair Cleansing Wipe.

The "Aha!" Moment
The idea didn’t come to us in a corporate boardroom. It was born exactly where you’d expect: right on the salon floor, fuelled by a shared passion to change the industry.
Mum and I had just made the official decision to launch our eco-friendly GG Clean range. We were both incredibly fired up about creating natural, safe products that would help salon and spa owners build beautiful, toxin-free environments for their clients. But as we were talking through the vision, a lightbulb went off in my head.
I looked at her and said, "If we are going to do this, there is something I really want to make... A hair cleansing wipe."
Mum stopped, looked at me, and said, "What?! I've never even heard of that!"
I just grinned, looked back at her with a big smirk, and said, "Exactly."
So after explaining what it is and what it can do, we were both too excited about how this could literally change peoples lives. Between managing clients, running around backstage at photoshoots, and trying to balance work with a life outside of it, we noticed a massive gap in how we take care of our hair on the go.
For years, the universal answer to day-two (or day-three, or day-four...) hair has been dry shampoo. But let's be honest for a second: dry shampoo doesn't actually clean your hair. It just masks the grease with heavy powders, often leaving behind a chalky residue, clogged scalp pores, and a dull finish. Once we knew this product would be able to replace dry shampoo, we pushed it further in our testing, used it after the gym, to prolong a blowout, when your ill and can't look after yourself, refresh your curls .... we pushed it far and it delivered.
We wanted a solution that gave you that genuinely clean, freshly-washed feeling without needing a full shower, blow-dry, and style. We wanted something that could fit into a gym bag, a carry-on, or a handbag.
And just like that, the seed for the Hair Cleansing Wipe was planted.
Behind the Scenes: From Kitchen Labs to a World-First Patent
Turning a great idea into a tangible, high-performance product is a whole different ballgame. If we were going to do this, it had to be done right. It had to meet professional salon standards, it had to be hypoallergenic, and it absolutely had to be eco-friendly.
Here’s how we went from a wild idea to a finished product:
The Formula Quest: We spent months researching and testing. We weren't just looking for a standard wet wipe; we needed a specialised, gentle formulation that could effectively cut through sebum and product buildup while leaving the hair soft, shiny, and residue-free. My obsession with constantly expanding my knowledge of hair and scalp health completely came into play here, ensuring the formula was as nourishing as it was effective.
The Goldilocks Phase: Next came the packaging puzzle. We obsessively tweaked the design ensuring the adhesive sticker was strong enough for long-term freshness, and engineering the packaging so the wipes could be heated or cooled depending on how you wanted to use them. We went through a major "Goldilocks" phase with the moisture levels: some prototypes were too wet, some were too dry, until finally... we hit the one that was just right.
The Final Moments: When we finally nailed the formulation, the fabric, and the packaging, we knew we had something revolutionary on our hands. Navigating the patent process was one of the most intense, nerve-wracking chapters of our journey. But the day the GG Hair Cleansing Wipes were officially patented and locked in? It was pure magic and total excitement!
From Pilates to Jet Setting: Who We Made This For
We designed these wipes because we were tired of the "all or nothing" approach to hair care. You shouldn't have to choose between skipping a killer workout or spending an hour washing and drying your hair afterward.
We tested them in real-world environments getting people to test them after the gym or pilates, tossing them to busy mums, and friends using them for long-haul travel.
Seeing the look on people's faces when they swipe a wipe through their roots and realise their hair looks, smells, and feels genuinely clean? That is exactly why we do this.
